Abstract

Nation center for health statistic, estimated that they are 3-5 million of children under 15 years old has hospitalized every year. Hospitalized children age 0-21 years old in Indonesia per total population is 14,44%. Hospitalized children at hospital will affect their physical and psychological. The purpose of this research is to find out the correlation between anxiety level on children age 6-12 years old because of hospitalization at children room ArgaMakmur hospital North Bengkulu in 2018. Research method is analytic with cross-sectional design. Population on this research is all 6-12 years old children who hospitalized at children room ArgaMakmur hospital north Bengkulu in 2017, they are 182 children with 65 people as sampling who chosen by using accidental sampling. Data are analyzed by using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis by using chi-square analysis. Univariate result shows that half respondents (63,1%) never hospitalized before and more than half of respondents (52,3%) suffer from moderate anxiety. Chi-square analysis shows that pvalue=0,016 is lower than alpha value 0,05 means there is a correlation between hospitalization experience with anxiety level on children age 6-12 years old. The result shows that there is a correlation between hospitalization experience with anxiety level on children age 6-12 years at children room hospital north Bengkulu. It is expected that to hospital personnel can increase the service quality on children by making rules for nurses to approach children by using atraumatic care treatment on children especially implementation of therapeutic communication.
